When Did The Rise Start?
Around 2007 the rise of anxiety for young adults started but, between 2007-2012 it really started to peak and eventually plateau.
What Is Causing The Rising Rates Of Anxiety In Young Adults?
Based on a combination of statistics and asking a lot of young adults, I figured the 5 top things causing stress are... social media, higher expectations, peers, grades/school, and pressure.
Social media because of the unrealistic standard of life it puts out.
Higher expectations because of the standard getting raised higher every year so young adults have to do more and more every year to reach the standard.
Grades because of it determining teens futures.
Peers because a lot of young adults are scared of getting judged.
Pressure because of the worry that they aren't doing enough.
What Can We Do To Lower Our Anxiety?
To lower anxiety going off your phone can help because it can help young adults become aware of real life and not the fake notion of it on their phone. Next, being in nature can lower anxiety because the color green lowers cortisol levels. Lastly, cutting back on sugar helps reduce anxiety because you have less mood swings when you have a lower level of sugar consumption.
