Last week’s article I talked about the differences and misconceptions between introverts and extroverts. For this week I decided to dive a little deeper into the differences and explain the 4 different types of introverts! Next week I will be doing the 4 different types of extroverts, so stay tuned and subscribe for more if that seems interesting and with all that being said let’s get started on the 4 different types of introverts I hope you enjoy!
Thinking Introvert
A thinking introvert is probably the most objective out of all the introverts. I think my favorite thing about them is that they’re super independent and won’t go with what the crowd thinks. They think thoroughly before they speak. They usually internalize their feelings, which makes them struggle with saying what's in their head to people but, they are still very in tune with themselves. If you are friends with one they are probably known as the “laid back friend”. The last thing about them is that their “resting stage” is usually reading, investigating, essentially anything that involves learning.
Social Introvert
You may be thinking what? A social introvert wouldn't that be just an extrovert? Well no, not necessarily. The main difference between a social introvert and extrovert is that while they still love social interaction they still gain energy from being with themselves while extroverts gain energy from others. A social introvert is more of a people person than the regular introvert but still the same have the same amount of introspection as the average introvert. They typically put a lot of energy into others but also put a lot of energy into themselves. They prefer being friends with extroverts so they can go with them to more social gatherings. They like big AND small groups. They really like to get to know new people but they can come across as shy. With friends though they can be mistaken as an extrovert.
Anxious Introvert
An anxious introvert is probably the most quiet introvert and unlike the thinking introvert, they won’t say their feelings because of anxiety or fear. When running into an anxious introvert they might seem very nervous or on edge to talk and sometimes even stoic. They are very avoidant of things they fear whether it’s social interaction or a presentation and they’re not confident of their social skills. Since they're so anxious, when they need to deal with situations they will be VERY VERY prepared so every possible situation that goes wrong they have a plan to solve on the spot. Keep in mind although anyone can have anxiety, an anxious introvert is more likely than the average person to have social anxiety. They are also over thinkers which can lead to perfectionism. They can come across as very successful on the outside because of there perfectionism.
Restrained Introvert
Restrained introverts are naturally very reserved but will have small talk with new people. They can come off as very unemotional and peaceful. They Prefer to have planned out predictable activities. They’re slow but organized and also are big planners and because of that, they have a strong sense of duty and people rely on them. They're a type that is not impulsive, they think before they act and also aren’t very fond of change.
Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed reading this and found what you were looking for or learned something new! Keep in mind anyone can experience things like anxiety disorders, wanting to be alone, or being social no matter what type of introvert or extrovert you are. With all that being said, I hope to see you stick around and be back on my next blog post!
