How Persuasion,Marketing, and Propaganda Affects Us

Persuasion, marketing, and propaganda are some of the most widely known things we deal with everyday. marketing is seen everywhere from millions of ads and commercials, persuasion is constantly on social media, and propaganda is seen everywhere from radio stations to news stations to even ads. But how do these daily things affect the average human being?

How do these things affect us long term?

These things affect us in a variety of different ways but the main way it affects us the most is that it dissatisfies us. The main way it dissatisfies us is that advertisements make us believe we need more than we really do. Advertising can give us false solutions to problems that ironically they create. Take for example advertising a need for a piece of makeup to make someone more beautiful. That is very obviously not needed but because of the way our society is, it may feel needed to be beautiful. Essentially advertisements can create problems and then give solutions (that don't truly solve anything) so that their company can benefit.

How often do we see advertisements per day?

Holy smokes. I expected us to see about maybe 100 ads a day but the information I found was ASTONISHING. 500-10,000 ads the average person is exposed to a day. WOW.

Do teens get more affected by these things than adults?

I think most people would expect that ads affect teens more than adults but how? One of the main reasons suspected teens are more affected by ads than adults is because of the lack of exposure to things. Take for example imagine seeing something only online for years ,there is more mystery and excitement around it than already having seen it in person (which adults because of being around longer have most likely seen more things)
