Writer's picture: NicoleNicole

There are five main types of social interaction. Exchange, Competition, Conflict, Cooperation, and Accommodation. In this article I'll explain each and give examples for each! Enjoy :)

~Exchange

Exchange is a type of interaction where you give and hope to achieve some kind of reward. (Ex. Asking someone on a date, the reward is them possibly saying yes)

~Competition

Competition is a type of social interaction where multiple people (2 or more) go against each other to achieve a goal that one of them can ultimately achieve.

(Ex. two people going to apply to a college there is only one person that can get accepted into a college)

~Conflict

Conflict is a type of social interaction where winning or defeating your opponent is the ultimate goal.

(Ex. Arguing against a person to own a piece of land)

~Cooperation

Cooperation is a type of social interaction where people do similar activities together to achieve a goal.

(Ex. Three people all helping to carry one piece of luggage together out of the trunk)

~Accomidation

Accomidation is a type of social interaction where people adapt to certain environments.

(Ex. Helping in a group project)
